How we collect it

We collect most information directly from you, through forms, quotes, emails, phone calls, site inductions and job paperwork. We may also collect it from other sources, such as your employer or company, referees, credit reporting bodies, and public registers such as ASIC and the Personal Property Securities Register.

Why we collect it and how we use it

We use personal information to:

  • quote for, plan, carry out and invoice our work;
  • assess credit applications, manage customer accounts and recover overdue debts;
  • keep our people and sites safe, and meet work health and safety, licensing and other legal duties;
  • employ, pay and train our team, and assess job applicants;
  • deal with suppliers and subcontractors;
  • answer enquiries and complaints; and
  • tell customers and contacts about our services, if you have not asked us to stop.

We use information only for these purposes, for related purposes you would reasonably expect, or where the law requires or allows it. If we want to use it for something different, we will ask you first.

Who we share it with

We do not sell personal information. We share it only where we need to, with:

  • our accountants, lawyers, insurers and other professional advisers;
  • government bodies, such as the ATO and work health and safety regulators, where the law requires;
  • credit reporting bodies and debt collectors, for credit checks and recovering debts;
  • the principal, head contractor or client on a job, where this is needed to carry out or claim for the work, for example site access, induction and safety records; and
  • companies that supply us with software and services, such as accounting, job management, email and cloud storage providers.

Some of those providers store information on servers outside Australia. Where this happens, we take reasonable steps to make sure the provider protects the information.

Cookies and website tracking

Like most websites, our website uses cookies and similar technologies. These are small files stored in your browser that help the website work properly and help us understand how it is used.

We may use analytics tools, such as Google Analytics, to see how visitors find and use our website, and advertising tools, such as the LinkedIn Insight Tag and similar tools from other platforms, to measure how our advertising performs and to show our ads to people who may be interested in our services. These tools may collect information such as your IP address, browser and device type, the pages you visit and how you arrived at our website. This information is generally not used to identify you personally.

If you fill in a form on our website or in one of our ads, such as a LinkedIn lead form, we will collect the details you enter and use them to respond to your enquiry, as described in this policy.

You can block or delete cookies through your browser settings, and you can manage ad preferences in your LinkedIn and other social media account settings. If you block cookies, some parts of our website may not work as intended.

Credit checks

When a business applies for an account with us, we may ask a credit reporting body for a commercial credit report on the business and its directors, and may search ASIC, court and insolvency records. We only do this with your consent, which our account application form asks for. We may also give information about overdue accounts to credit reporting bodies, as allowed by law.

Keeping your information safe

We store information in password-protected systems and locked files, and only the staff who need it can access it. We train our team to handle it carefully.

We keep information for as long as we need it for the purposes above, or as long as the law requires, such as for tax, employment and work health and safety records. When we no longer need it, we destroy it or remove anything that identifies you.

If we find out about a data breach that is likely to cause you serious harm, we will tell you and the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (OAIC) as the law requires.

Your rights

You can ask us at any time to:

  • show you the personal information we hold about you;
  • correct anything that is wrong, out of date or incomplete; or
  • stop sending you marketing messages.

Contact us using the details at the top of this policy. We may need to confirm who you are first, and we will reply within 30 days. If the law lets us refuse a request, we will tell you why in writing.

You can usually deal with us without giving your name, or under a pseudonym, but that is not always possible, for example when we need to set up an account or pay you.

Making a complaint

If you think we have mishandled your information, contact us first. We will acknowledge your complaint, look into it, and reply within 30 days. If you are not satisfied with our response, you can complain to the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner at oaic.gov.au or on 1300 363 992.
