Mt Buffalo Chalet Conservation Project

As part of the $3 million Mount Buffalo Conservation Project, First Scaff was engaged by HBS to provide scaffolding for the restoration of the heritage-listed Mt Buffalo Chalet.

The scaffold provided safe and stable access for recladding works on the building façade and for patching and repairing the historic chimney structure.

All works were carried out with care to protect heritage elements while ensuring reliable access for multiple trades operating on tight restoration schedules.

Project Environment

  • Limited access – gear had to be manually carried through a narrow 1.4 m-high entry point to reach the site.
  • Changing alpine weather conditions required constant adjustment to scheduling and safety planning.
  • Heritage protection requirements meant all scaffold tie-ins and contact points were carefully managed to prevent damage

Project Outcome

Despite access and weather challenges, the scaffold was delivered safely and efficiently, allowing restoration works to proceed on schedule. The client was extremely satisfied with the installation quality and the team’s respect for the heritage site, completing works within the required timeframe while maintaining full structural and aesthetic integrity.
